BEER IS PROOF THAT GOD LOVES US AND WANTS US TO BE HAPPY
— Benjamin Franklin

A Prairie Prophecy Short Film Project

Beer Saves The World! follows the story of Kernza® the world’s first trademarked perennial grain and the advocates who grow it, research it, and the brave individuals who make beer with it! Spearheaded by environmental leaders like Patagonia, the grain has moved from concept to consumer proving that perennial plants that heal the soil can also help wash down a plate of nachos.

Why this film?

There’s no time to waste.

As industrial agriculture and GMO crops flood our lives and destroy precious topsoil the message about natural systems farming must be part of the solution conversation. We must send a clear message that a return to polycultures and perennial plants like Kernza® can help save the world’s remaining farmland. Far from the doomsday approach the vital message in HOW BEER SAVES THE WORLD! is served up in a way that is entertaining and as refreshing as a cold beer on a hot day.

Showing how perennial plants are grown, harvested, and brewed into the world’s favorite beverage inspires environmentalism into action. These pioneers in perennially are living proof that humans with a shared passion can world together to make something great, serve others and save the planet.

WHY KERNZA® DESERVES A MOVIE
Traditional brewing grains, like barley and wheat, are annuals. Because they’re replanted every season, they require more of their soil and more energy to grow. As a perennial—with a 10+-foot root structure— Kernza protects its soil from erosion and retains more nutrients while also sequestering carbon.

Kernza’s incredibly long rootstock
